There are many tourism destinations those are not well known and not popular to the public, it even has never been visited and many have been abandoned.  According to Asmara (2020) Indonesia is not yet fully known. There are still many tourists who only know about Bali, so the Ministry of Tourism has created a new program to increase tourist visits to Indonesia and spread evenly throughout the country. So It could be assumed that many of Indonesia's amazing tourism destination haven’t reached the ears of the society.

            The same case in Palembang city, there are many kinds of tourism destinations in the form of historical, cultural, and natural destination, but unfortunately many destinations are seldom visited by the visitors. According to Ismail (2012), the city of Palembang has many selling points in the world of tourism. We all know that Palembang has a great potential to be the best tourist town in Indonesia. Yet, It is rather difficult because of  many unexposed and unpopular destinations.

            The destinations which is not popular may happened because of the result of a limited information and knowledge regarding a destination. Moreover,Asmara added that tourism industry, especially in the field of tourism object management and accommodation, did not yet have good management due to limited knowledge and business capital. Knowledge of tourism plays an important part to increase tourism that will certainly affect economic growth in Indonesia.

            Lack of public knowledge in the field of tourism can be one of the barriers and obstacles in making improvements to the tourism sector.The tourism sector is very important for each region because it can support the economic activities of the surrounding community. Knowledge in the field of tourism must be increased because it is an asset for us to continue, to advance and to become the country with the largest tourism income in the world, and of course it will have a good impact on the development of our own country. There are many things that can be done to increase knowledge in  tourism either by reading, listening, or even by playing games.

           

Game is one of effective tool to increase the knowledge of many people in the field of tourism because we can use the games as a intermediary to give information and to promote the tourism destinations. Xu (2016) said that as a new approach to promote tourism destinations, gaming provides tourism organisations and destination marketers an opportunity to create informative and entertaining settings for successful brand awareness, interaction and communication.

One of the most effective games for student to use as a tool to increase knowledge and insight is the crossword puzzle game. As affirmed by Serna and Ajor (2011), they state that the use of educational games can help the students  to generate more positive feelings about the subject matter and to enhance learning outcomes. Thus, the lesson is more easily digested by the students and they are involved in the activities directly because games give a pleasant variation in learning.
